The demand for individualized academic support has been steadily increasing over the last three years. Your gift will enable us to help current and future Furman students achieve academic success.

The Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) program replaced the long-standing Tutoring Program in Fall 2020. The Tutoring Program employed hundreds of student tutors over the years and helped many hundreds more. The PAL program carries on that legacy.

Our mission is to provide:

• Collaborative peer tutoring for students
• Support in applying effective studying and test preparation strategies for students
• And an engaged learning experience that is aligned with The Furman Advantage for Peer Learning Consultants

We help students with over 50 courses each semester, from subjects such as history, religion, biology, chemistry, mathematics, languages, and more!

In the Writing & Media Lab (WML), our trained student Consultants provide one-on-one or small group assistance with student writing and multimedia projects.

We can help with:

• brainstorming a paper or project
• outlining your ideas
• reading through your writing
• creating a presentation or poster
• helping you practice your presentation
• planning a video or podcast
• revising, proofreading, or editing

Did you know that the Writing & Media Lab has been on Furman’s campus, in the Duke Library, since 2000? Originally called the Center for Collaborative Learning & Communication (CCLC), and later dubbed The StudioLab, the Writing & Media Lab continues a long tradition of supporting student communication and collaboration through composition!
