START A HUMAN BUTTERFLY EFFECT
Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities
What if your research could set something big in motion? A bottomless think tank where students, educators and leaders work to address the largest sustainability questions facing humanity, the Shi Center is a catalyst where students are offered a chance to contribute to world-changing research. Just how important is this to us? Over two-thirds of Furman courses integrate sustainability content.

CONTRIBUTE TO THE GREATER GOOD
Collaborative for Community-Engaged Learning
What you will learn in the next four years won’t be limited to semesters or confined by campus gates. You can begin making your mark in the community now. The Collaborative for Community-Engaged Learning promotes the exchange of ideas and positive change by creating collaborations between students, faculty and community partners. Be part of an interdisciplinary research team that collects and studies data to address a pressing local issue. Work with community partners to improve public transportation, identify priority areas for land conservation, develop a community garden in an under-resourced neighborhood, and ensure that all communities thrive.Get connected
