SOUTH HOUSING RENOVATIONS
South Housing has been reimagined as the dedicated home for all first-year students during their transition to Furman, creating a cohesive and supportive living environment. Geer, Manly, McGlothlin, and Poteat Halls were each renovated to match the modern standard of Blackwell Hall, the new residence hall that opened in August 2024. All buildings now feature private pod-style bathrooms on each wing, fully ADA-accessible rooms, inviting lounges and shared spaces, and community kitchens designed for students to prepare and share meals together. Abundant natural light fills the buildings, fostering a bright, welcoming atmosphere that supports both community building and individual well-being.
NORTH VILLAGE RENOVATIONS
The North Village renovation project has transformed and modernized the independent living experience for third- and fourth-year students. This comprehensive upgrade to the apartments and pavilion enhanced safety, accessibility, sustainability, interior design, and exterior aesthetics. Students now enjoy new flooring, updated lighting, stylish furniture, modern appliances, and abundant natural light—an improvement identified as a priority by student focus groups. Significant structural changes converted shared bedrooms into private bedrooms and enclosed balconies and patios into bright, glass-enclosed sunrooms, creating a more comfortable, functional, and contemporary living environment.
NORTH VILLAGE PAVILION
The renovation of the North Village pavilion has transformed the space into a true outdoor recreation destination for students. The pavilion now features both covered and uncovered accessible seating areas, a catering counter with a wet sink, Bluetooth audio, and ceiling fans for comfort. Surrounding amenities have also been upgraded, including a renovated basketball court, sand volleyball pit, and courts that accommodate both tennis and pickleball. Together, these enhancements create a versatile and inviting hub for relaxation, socializing, and active recreation.
