We determine room assignments and roommates for the academic year through our seniority-based housing lottery, a computer system that takes each student’s preferences into account before assigning a room. Priority is given to seniors, juniors and then sophomores. Each resident is invited to participate in the lottery with the roommate of their choice.
Students may choose their preferences by following the appropriate housing application steps . If you are a returning student and do not receive confirmation that your name has been submitted for a room assignment, contact us .
Assignments are made without regard to race, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability.
New students will receive their room assignment through their Furman email. If you are a returning student, you can view the status of your application through our secure site: MyFurman. Visit the housing section of the portal, and check your status under "Verify Assignment Status."
If you wish to change your room assignment for any reason, review our process for approving room change requests.
If you are planning to go on a study away trip and have been assigned a room for the semester you're planning to travel, you have several options to consider regarding your room assignment.
