The Faculty Development Center team, along with Human Resources, Academic Affairs, and your respective departments are gearing up to welcome you and kick off the Fall semester here on campus.  Here is some information about each of these offices and how they may assist you in settling in.

Academic Affairs

The Office of Academic Affairs oversees all areas of faculty and academic support. It consists of a vice president for academic affairs and provost, two associate provosts as well as six academic deans.

The office is responsible for managing Furman’s academic programs, including the hiring of all faculty and optimization of resource allocations and staffing within Academic Affairs. It also works closely with students, parents and faculty to ensure academic regulations are followed, and that Furman’s integrity pledge is honored. To visit the Academic Affairs website click here.

Human Resources

The Office of Human Resources is dedicated to supporting the mission and goals of Furman University by delivering a wide array of programs and services to its employees. Learn more about Human Resources.

•  I-9 Form and instructions available in WorkDay.
• Processing Moving Reimbursements – If you were approved for moving/relocation expenses, please submit your receipts to Kate Burris. Reimbursements will be processed up to the amount approved and specified in the offer letter and contract after documentation has been submitted. Please note that these reimbursements are subject to tax withholding per applicable law.

Academic Calendar

The Academic Calendar lists important dates such as Registration and Grading, Staff Holidays, Religious Observances, Billing & Financial Aid, Continuing Education, Graduate Studies, Housing & Dining and Required Maintenance. This calendar is published and updated by Enrollment Services.

Bookstore

Operated by Barnes & Noble, the Furman University bookstore is filled with Paladin apparel, fine items and gifts. The Bookstore manages the textbook adoption process through AIP. AIP is a single sign-on platform, meaning you can log in using your Furman credentials and easily place your orders.

News and Information

Furman University has a domain-level subscription to several reputable news sources, including the Chronicle of Higher Education, The New York Times, and The Washington Post which allows faculty free access when using a Furman email address. To review available options visit the Duke Library.

Copying and Printing

P2X provides affordable and convenient printing and copying services for students, faculty, staff and the public.

ID Cards

Faculty ID cards can be acquired through Human Resources.  You can find more details and request your card here.

Information Technology Services (ITS)

Library Liaisons

Health & Wellness Services

In addition to comprehensive medical insurance, Furman University has partnered with Prisma Health to operate our Employee On-Site Clinic in the Earle Student Health Center and offers a Wellness Program for staff and faculty.

Annual Evaluation

Information about the Annual Faculty Evaluation can be found in the Furman University Policies and Procedures Manual, Policy No. 152.2. You may want to preview a sample of Part I and Part II of the annual evaluation form.

Travel to Conferences

The  Dean’s Office has funding to support faculty travel to Professional Conferences.  For more information please find Policy No. 166.1. The Dean of Faculty will share a memo annually outlining available funds.

Tenure

Furman’s Policy No. 158.4  and No. 157.3 provide you with basic information about our tenure and promotion process.

Grants and Research Administration

Furman’s Office of Grant and Research Administration offers information about sponsored programs, including but not limited to University and federal regulations for proposal submissions, information on potential sources of grant funding, and information on proposal preparation.
