Fall 2020 international study away programs canceled

Fall 2020 international study away programs canceled

In light of the dynamic nature of coronavirus developments around the world, Furman’s Study Away Safety and Compliance and Assessment of Risk Committee has been closely monitoring coronavirus developments in the United States and across the globe, especially in areas where our students are scheduled to study in the fall. We are continually monitoring:

With information from these sources, the university has reached the difficult decision to cancel international Fall 2020 study away programs.

We know this decision is disappointing to our students and their families, but we also recognize that COVID-19 continues to be a global public health crisis, and student safety and health are always our top priority.

No exceptions will be granted for students to participate in a Fall 2020 program regardless of whether the hosting institution abroad is operating.

The study away office will work with affected students to consider alternative study away options and are offering virtual study away advising sessions by appointment. Affected students have also been encouraged to reach out to their faculty and staff academic advisors and mentors.
