Furman Salutes

Submissions accepted year round
An opportunity for staff members to recognize colleagues who provide exceptional service at Furman. Recipients will receive an email salute that is shared with their supervisor, the vice president of their division, and the president of Furman University. They will also be recognized during our Spring Employee Recognition Event, and automatically be nominated for the Paladin Pride Award. Submit a Furman Salute here.

#FurmanSocktober

Promoted periodically; not an annual event
Socktober is a worldwide initiative to provide socks and other rarely donated items to the homeless community. In 2021, the Staff Advisory Council organized and promoted the month-long event for the first time at Furman, setting up collection points around campus and encouraging the Furman family to participate. As an added incentive, staff members received a free pair of Diamond F socks to help raise awareness of the event, and many staff members shared photos of the socks around campus. See photo gallery.

These envelopes contain several small tokens of appreciation from the Staff AC for a job well done.

Staff Community Fund Scholarship

Application deadline is April 30
The Staff Community Fund Scholarship is awarded to full- or part-time Furman University staff members, spouses or domestic partners, or legal dependents in pursuit of an education at any accredited two- or four-year college or university. The scholarship may be used to assist with education-related expenses such as tuition, books, room and board. Look for email communications in the spring with link to application form. Staff Member of the Year Award

Paladin Pride Award

Submissions accepted year round via the submission form
An award presented to one of our colleagues at the Spring Employee Recognition Event, nominated by the staff body, to recognize their positive spirit on campus, fostering a sense of community and exemplifying Furman’s mission and values. Learn more about the Paladin Pride award.

Staff Fall Forum

Held at the Staff Advisory Council’s discretion, the Fall Forum provides an opportunity to hear updates from the president, Human Resources and other campus representatives, recognize colleagues, and participate in door prize drawings.
