Furman Voice Day

The Furman Voice Day is open to all high school voice students and teachers and is led by voice faculty members from the Furman Music Department. You will be able to connect and interact with teachers, Furman students, and other vocalists from near and far. There is no cost for Voice Day and it will be held on the campus of Furman University for those who are able to attend in-person, as well as virtually for those who are not able to travel to campus.

Schedule
9:00-10:00am: Opening Session- led by Voice Area Coordinator Dr. Grant Knox, this session will introduce the Furman Voice faculty, share information about the Voice Program at Furman, and feature performances by current students. (Students, Teachers)
10:15-11:15: Preparing for College Auditions- Dr. Craig Price will demystify the college audition process and preview what Furman auditions will look like for prospective students. Several singers will have the opportunity to present mock auditions for a panel of Furman faculty members and receive feedback. (Students,Teachers)
11:30-12:30: Developing a Character for a Successful Audition- Several students will have the chance to work with Furman faculty members on strategies for establishing a character in a short period to present their most confident audition. (Students, Teachers)
1:30-2:30: Masterclass with Jacquelyn Stucker- Several students will have the opportunity to work with International Soprano Jacquelyn Stucker. Stucker is a Furman alum (’11) and is our Distinguished Affiliate Faculty and Artist-In-Residence. She has appeared with Royal Opera Covent Garden, Aix-En-Provence Festival, Deutsch Oper Berlin, Santa Fe Opera, Glyndebourne, and more. Future seasons see her in principal roles at Paris Opera, with multiple returns to the Royal Opera House and Deutsche Oper Berlin. (Students, Teachers)
2:45-3:45: Choir at Furman- Dr. Stephen Gusukuma will lead a session on choral singing at Furman including a performance by current students. (Students, Teachers)
4:00-5:00: Prospective Student Meet and Greet- Students will have the opportunity to meet with a panel of current students in our program to learn more about life as a student at Furman and in the voice program. (Students)
4:00-5:00: Teacher Meet and Greet- Teachers are invited to join the Furman Voice Faculty in a meet-and-greet format to network and have a chance to ask questions of our faculty. (Teachers)
