The Future of the Academic Enterprise (register here)

Covid-19 has upended higher education, but has it truly changed everything? With vaccines being rolled out, colleges look ahead to a potentially more normal-looking fall semester. In this virtual forum, a Chronicle of Higher Education assistant managing editor, Ian Wilhelm, joins the futurist Bryan Alexander and a panel of higher-ed thinkers for a wide-ranging discussion to examine the challenges and realities that may lie ahead and to look broadly at how the academic enterprise — teaching, research, service — will change due to the pandemic.

Week of Jan 25-29

Monday, January 25 – 10:15-11:15 a.m.

Talking Teaching: Socially Connected While Physically Distant (register here)

This discussion will focus on approaches to build community while adhering to distance constraints. This conversation is appropriate for colleagues teaching both FurmanFlex and Online courses. Spring 2021 Design with Flex in Mind Reflection Debrief (register here)

Are you teaching new courses in the spring semester, redesigning a course for a hybrid-flexible environment, or returning after a sabbatical? Whether you are completing the FDC’s self-paced course redesign planning process (Design with Flex in Mind) or you are looking for opportunities to reflect and consider the unique challenges and opportunities your spring instruction might bring, we invite you to join us for a reflective and collaborative conversation about spring course design on one of the two dates above. If you aren’t already participating in our Design with Flex in Mind course, you can sign up to join a reflection session here.
