Audition and Declaration Requirements
Furman students intending to major in music must perform an audition and complete a music theory placement examination. Final approval for a music degree takes place during your sophomore year. Learn more about auditions.
General Requirements
The Bachelor of Music in Education (Instrumental) provides students with an opportunity to earn South Carolina Teacher Certification through specific courses pertaining to the study of instrumental music – Band and Orchestra.
Furman’s program of teacher education is subject to regulations, standards, and guidelines established by the South Carolina Department of Education.
