Join the Lakeside Concert Band and guest artists to celebrate the Sounds of Summer!

Thursday Evenings

Music By The Lake
Sue Samuels, director

Relax at our beautiful Furman Amphitheater by the Furman University Lake and enjoy a cross-section of Big Band, Jazz, International, Contemporary, and traditional band and orchestra favorites. All concerts are FREE and open to the public. Bring your family and friends!

Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. every Thursday from May 21 through July 30 (see schedule below for any changes). Bring your lawn chairs, a picnic dinner and a blanket, and get ready to enjoy the sounds of the summer!

In case of inclement weather, the concerts will be moved indoors. Contact the Music Department office at 864-294-2086 for details. If you call after 5 p.m., there will be a recording on the voicemail providing information about the concert location and performers for the week.

Parking Information

For concerts held at the lakeside amphitheater:

Handicap parking for those with proper vehicle identification will be located on Dave Garrett Dr. (the road that goes up to the Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities) and at select buildings at North Village Apartments. There is a drop-off location in front of the Shi Institute building for vans and small buses. We ask that cars do not use this road to drop off as it makes it difficult for buses and other large vehicles to turn around.

All other parking will be on a first-come, first-served basis and will include the following parking lots:

  • McAlister Auditorium/Daniel Music Building
  • Roe Art Building
  • Admissions/Administration Building
  • Daniel Chapel
  • Trone Student Center

On some dates to be announced, Southern Valet will be providing transportation from the McAlister Auditorium and Daniel Chapel lots to the Amphitheater at the Dave Garrett entrance. The shuttle buses are ADA accessible.

On June 25, the road behind the lake will be closed to vehicle traffic starting at the restrooms. Between 8 and 10 p.m., the road will be completely closed to vehicles and pedestrians, including the restrooms due to fireworks safety.
