About the 2022 prompt

No one is spared from the realities of our changing climate. What must be done to mitigate the rising temperatures of our planet? How do we adapt to the consequences we are facing and will continue to face? To allow Furman students an opportunity to bring their creative minds to the public conversation, we invited undergraduates to submit a 600 – 750 word opinion piece (op-ed) to be published by the Greenville Journal in response to this question:

“How can young people advance climate action in the Upstate over the next five years?”

The prompt touched on issues that were explored further at StraightTalk 2022: A New Climate Movement: Acting on Solutions that Work, a three-part event presented by the Riley Institute and OLLI@Furman on August 30, September 6, and September 13, 2022.
