In an article appearing in Capital B newsletter “Everything’s Political,” Furman University alumnus Brandon Tensley ’12 rounds up recent happenings in the U.S. that deal with race, popular culture and politics. The political science and German studies alum explores a lesser-known holiday, the state of affirmative action and DEI programs in higher education, a new film, alleged 2020 presidential race misconduct by a Texas attorney general, and a new city in Louisiana that threatens to draw funding away from schools and social programs in Baton Rouge.

In addition to his bachelor’s from Furman, Tensley holds a master’s in politics from Oxford. Prior to his current role at Capital B, he was a national political writer for CNN.
