Career Connectors for the NCHS Cougars

This Capstone project will expose a select cohort of approximately fifteen 12th graders at North Charleston High School (NCHS) to career opportunities with the support of our DLI mentor group and CCSD staff. The students, who are not yet designated as “career ready” or “college ready”, will be selected by their teachers and counselors through a nomination and selection process. Following an initial “meet and greet” we will have with the students at NCHS, our team plans to expose the students to a variety of career opportunities around the Lowcountry, including by taking them on worksite visits to the following area institutions: MUSC, Trident Technical College, SC State Ports Authority, Charleston County and Wild Dunes Resort. From these visits, and based on other work our team will engage in with the students to help them build and improve their “soft skills”, we hope that each student will have one or more concrete options for what they will elect to do after their high school graduation in June of 2024.
