Our initiatives at IACH prioritize community-based research, ensuring that the voices and needs of the community guide the development of solutions that address health disparities and promote fair and just access to health.
Here is a sampling of our work. Please reach out to us at [email protected] to find out how our team can assist you in providing research solutions.
Food Insecurity Map
In an effort to equip communities to understand and address the problem of food insecurity, Food is Medicine South Carolina (FiMSC), South Carolina SNAP-Ed, Furman University’s Institute for the Advancement of Community Health (IACH), and Openfields partnered to develop the South Carolina Food Insecurity Risk Map, a cutting-edge data resource that visualizes food insecurity risk side-by-side with relevant demographic and health outcome data at the county and census tract levels.
SC Roadmap
The SC Roadmap is a collaborative effort to understand and address social drivers of health in our state, including how to better assist South Carolinians in securing stable housing, healthy food, a steady income and access to resources such as medical and dental care. We’re honored to be serving as the Research and Information Lead on the second phase of the Roadmap project. Our IACH Community Action team will work to set up and improve data systems and offer support to help achieve shared goals. Learn more here!
