Teachers who request course revalidation are reminded of the following:
- According to SC Department of Education guidelines, teachers may request course revalidation from the Office of Graduate Studies at Furman. While the SDE allows teachers to use courses within a seven-year time frame toward class level advancement (+18 or master’s +30), revalidated courses cannot be used toward any type of add-on certification.
- The Office of Graduate Studies will consider, on a course-by-course basis, only those courses that have been taken no longer than 10 years prior to the date of a revalidation request. By revalidating a course, Furman is confirming that course format and content are current and have, essentially, remained the same within that time frame.
- To make a request for course revalidation to the Office of Graduate Studies, teachers should submit the SCDE form to kay.goodwin@furman.edu
You can find the Request for Course Revalidation Form here – SCDE Course Revalidation Form
