The Trone Center for Mental Fitness offers a comprehensive and collaborative care model tailored to the diverse mental health needs of students. Our services range from occasional sessions and self-help support to routine psychotherapy on a short-term basis and referral for specialized care.
At TCMF, we empower students to take charge of their wellness by making informed lifestyle choices, seeking care as needed, and cultivating daily habits that foster overall wellbeing. Our focus is on enhancing students’ academic and interpersonal success within a rigorous and transformative campus environment.
In addition to addressing adjustment issues such as stress, homesickness, grief, and cultural or identity stressors, we also support students dealing with mild to moderate anxiety, mood, eating, and substance concerns.
TCMF offers flexible and rapid access to a variety of mental health and wellbeing resources, including:
- Digital wellbeing tools
- Same-day and single-session counseling
- A 24/7 support line
- Psychiatric consultations for regularly attending students.
- Short-term psychotherapy
- Workshops
- Support groups, such as Grief Group and Survivors of Sexual Assault Support Group
We also provide integrated case management and community referrals for those who need or want specialty or intensive treatment.
What Can I Expect at My First Appointment?
The first appointment at TCMF is an initial brief consultation lasting up to an hour. Students will receive a text with a link to forms that need to be completed before the appointment. The forms take approximately 15-20 minutes, so students are encouraged to complete it prior to the appointment time.
At the appointment, students will meet with a counselor to review and clarify mental health history and current concerns as documented on the intake forms. The appointment proceeds with assessment of safety and overall functioning. The session concludes with collaborative goal setting and referrals to other campus resources as needed.
What if I Need Specialty Care?
TCMF provides case management for students needing specialized care. Our case manager can help students secure referrals for more advanced or tailored services. Additionally, students can link to Mental Health Provider directories here
