More than just recreation, Outdoor Adventures creates inclusive spaces for physical and mental wellbeing. From the problem-solving mindfulness of our Climbing Gym to the social connections formed on Furman University Outdoors Club (FUOC) wilderness trips, we support students in finding balance and confidence. Come climb, hike, throw, and grow with us—no experience required.

Indoor climbing is more than a niche sport; it’s a fitness and wellbeing tool students actually use. Climbing sessions are short, social, and scalable, so beginners and advanced climbers can train side‑by‑side. Every route works your whole body while improving mobility and grip strength. Just as important, climbing is mentally engaging: problem‑solving on the wall acts like moving mindfulness, reducing stress, and boosting confidence. Routes can be reset weekly, keeping students coming back with friends. It’s an inclusive space that supports physical and emotional wellbeing, and a stronger campus community.

Get outside and explore the natural environment through FUOC. FUOC is a student-led organization, sponsored by Campus Recreation & Wellness, that offers multiple trips per semester and free equipment rental opportunities. All FUOC sponsored activities are for students only and most require an annual membership fee of $10.

Check out the newly renovated and expanded disc golf course! The course now has 18 holes, and begins near the Swamp Rabbit Trail and Swan Lake. More information coming soon!
