Spring 2024

Spring Closing

  • Students will receive a checklist from their RA to complete prior to checking out of their space for the spring semester.
  • Non-graduating students should make arrangements to depart campus 24 hours after their last exam or 5pm on April 30, 2024, or whichever comes first.
  • Graduating students should make arrangements to depart campus by Noon on May 4, 2024.
  • Due to the renovation of Poteat, McGlothlin, North Village K and North Village I, current residents of these buildings will be required to move to another space if requesting May X housing or approved for a Spring Extended Stay beyond noon on May 4th.

May X and Summer 2024

  • The May X and Summer Housing Application closes at 5pm on April 2nd.
  • Unless your student is currently living in Poteat, McGlothlin, North Village I or K, they can anticipate living in their current space for May X. If they are in those buildings, they will be given an alternative May X assignment due to renovations.
  • May X and Summer housing is term based. Please refer to the University Calendar to determine which terms your student will need housing.
  • Assignments will be released around Spring Finals Week.
  • Students who are on campus for May X and Summer 1 housing should anticipate moving on their assigned transition weekend to their summer assignment (if applicable) either May 18-19 or June 1-2.
  • Students who are on campus for Summer 2 and the Fall should anticipate moving on their assigned transition weekend to their fall assignment (if applicable) either

Housing Waitlist Process

  • Students who did not select a housing assignment during the Housing Lottery process will be assigned to housing during the summer.
  • All students on the waitlist will be assigned to housing.
  • Assignments are made with students’ preferences in mind whenever possible.
    • Students were asked to provide where they prefer to live, who they prefer to live with, and which factor is most important to them.

The most efficient way for students to receive assistance is by submitting a maintenance request.

Housing Lottery

Furman has a four-year residency requirement, but there are situations where students may seek off-campus housing or living arrangements.

Changing Room Assignments

If your student is interested in seeking a new room assignment or roommate, your student may submit a request to our office.

Study Away Options

If your student is planning to study away for a full semester, your student has several options to consider when it comes to obtaining a room assignment for the semester they're going to be at Furman.
