The Housing and Residence Life Office determines room assignments and roommates through a computer-based lottery system.
Furman has a four-year residency requirement, but there are situations where students may seek off-campus housing or living arrangements.
If your student is planning to study away for a full semester, your student has several options to consider when it comes to obtaining a room assignment for the semester they're going to be at Furman.
If your student is interested in seeking a new room assignment or roommate, your student may submit a request to our office.
Housing closes on November 21, 2020 at 5pm.
Furman’s residence halls, apartments, and other facilities are closed and unavailable during the winter break. Be sure to make travel and living arrangements in advance so you’re able to leave campus prior to when housing closes.
If you are returning to the same assignment for the Spring semester, you may leave your items in your room. Please take home any valuables or anything you may need over the break (medication, passport/license, airline tickets, chargers, laptop, etc) as you will not admitted back into your room until housing re-opens for Spring semester.
If you have a different assignment or not returning to Furman for the Spring semester, you will need to move out of your current assignment completely and check-out. You will be able to move into your new assignment when you return for Spring semester.
RAs will be holding meetings prior to winter break and will give you more information for how to prepare your room for over the break.
