Get to Know Me! A Snapshot Into My Life

Hey y’all! My name is Monica, and I’m one of the new admissions social media interns this fall! I am currently a junior studying Business Administration, and I can’t wait to bring you all along on my experiences this year!

I’m from Lexington, KY, (horse capital of the world!) and have really enjoyed the past 3 years transitioning to Furman and living in South Carolina. Since my time here at Furman, I’ve been able to grow and get involved in so many ways! Currently, I am an admissions ambassador (tour guide) and am involved in Greek life. I also walked onto Furman’s D1 Track & Field Team my freshman year! I never thought I’d participate in a lot of these involvements until I came to Furman. I’m so grateful for the opportunities I’ve found here and am sure you will find your place here too!

What’s Shaped Me

Where I come from and how I’ve grown up has shaped me into who I am today! So here’s some brief details about me and some fun facts!

Firstly, I’m the oldest of 6! I have three younger biological siblings and two stepsiblings. There’s never a dull or quiet moment in my house and I have loved being a role model as the oldest.

Secondly, I have dual citizenship! My mom is from London, England and I enjoy visiting my grandparents who still live there. I haven’t been in a while so hope to visit them soon!

And thirdly, I rode horses competitively for almost 10 years! I live on a farm back in Kentucky and have loved growing up around farm animals and horses.

There’s a few random facts about myself, and I look forward to telling you all more about me during my time here! I love meeting people and sharing my experiences, so don’t be afraid to reach out to ask questions or just say hi!

And I’m going abroad to Barcelona in the Spring! I look forward sharing my campus experiences this semester but also across the pond in Spain. I can’t wait to get continue my studies in a completely different place and culture and bring you all with me on this journey!
