Fraternity & Sorority Life

Furman is home to one of the largest Fraternal communities in a liberal arts setting. Founded on the principles of academic achievement, leadership, community service and life-long friendships, our community has 14 active fraternities and sororities with more than 1,200 members—just under half of the university’s student population. Our fraternities and sororities practice a deferred recruitment, which takes place in January, to give you a chance to get settled, make new friends and adjust academically before making a life-long commitment to an organization.
