Clarinet Day

The aim of the Furman Clarinet Day is to meet students at their current ability level and to help them grow in both breadth and depth in their knowledge and abilities as developing musicians.

The event is open to all middle and high school clarinet students. Including faculty from the Furman Music Department and guest artists, this event features all things clarinet!

Activities include: master classes, optional lessons, clarinet choir rehearsals, and a performance of your own for friends and family!

Clarinet Day Directors

Headlining Guest Artist:

Lilly Haley is a clarinetist in the United States Navy. During her tours in Pearl Harbor, Hawai’i and Norfolk, Virginia, she performed for American and foreign presidents, Pearl Harbor survivors, military dignitaries, significant cultural events, and has collaborated with military bands and school children around the world. She is an active member of the contemporary music community and has participated in the commissioning of works by Eric Mandat, Theresa Martin, Jonathan Russell, Anthony Green, Luke Ellard, Marcus Moore, and Roger Zare. As a supporter of the New Works Project, she has collaborated with composers and premiered new works for solo clarinet at the International Clarinet Association’s annual ClarinetFest. Dr. Haley has performed in wind ensembles, ceremonial bands, chamber ensembles, orchestras, jazz ensembles, and as a soloist in Fiji, Brazil, Germany, USA, and four of the Hawai’ian Islands. Most recently, she was a featured soloist with the Amazônia Jazz Band in Belém, Brazil. Dr. Haley is a Royal Global and D’Addario performing artist and holds degrees from University of New Hampshire, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and Florida State University where she served as a graduate teaching assistant. Her students have all gone on to successful careers in music education. In addition to her performing career, Dr. Haley travels the world with her husband, Brian Corbin, exhibiting, performing, and giving clinics at universities, conferences, festivals, clarinet days, and other events such as the International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest, Midwest Clinic, and Texas Music Educators Association Conference. She is the photographer for Royal Global Clarinets and B. Corbin Clarinet Products.
