Riley Institute Launches South Carolina Education Data Tool to Expand Access to School Performance Insights

GREENVILLE, S.C. — May 21, 2026 — The Riley Institute at Furman University has officially launched the South Carolina Education Data Tool, a new interactive data visualization platform designed to make South Carolina school report card data more accessible, transparent, and actionable for researchers, policymakers, school administrators, educators, and community leaders.

The platform aggregates South Carolina School Report Card data from the 2021–22 through 2024–25 academic years into a single, interactive environment where users can explore trends, compare schools and districts, and identify schools that outperform expectations.

Previously, many of these comparisons required extensive manual data selection and analysis. The new tool streamlines the process by bringing multiple data points together into easy-to-use visualizations that allow users to quickly generate insights and identify patterns.

By visualizing performance in context, the platform encourages more informed decision-making and supports evidence-based conversations about educational improvement.

“For educators and policymakers, understanding trends over time and benchmarking against similar schools can help identify what strategies are working,” Gregory said. “The tool also highlights schools that are exceeding expectations relative to economic indicators, helping surface effective practices that may be replicated elsewhere.”

Ultimately, the platform aims to strengthen educational outcomes across South Carolina by making data more understandable, accessible, and useful to the people who rely on it most.

The South Carolina Education Data Tool is now available through The Riley Institute at Furman University.
