Clinical Services

We’re your first stop for getting over an injury or illness. Our physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants see students with everything from upper respiratory problems, to minor eye disorders, to abdominal pain. If you need more specialized care from the women’s clinic, sports medicine clinic, or counseling services on campus, we’ll refer you to them.

We mostly treat short-term illnesses at our clinic, but we can also help you manage any on-going problems you might have. We can help manage ADHD, mental illness, reproductive health and other medical problems like thyroid disease. We can also assist with screening exams and provide immunizations and prophylactic medications for internships or traveling abroad. We also provide STI screenings, free condoms and prescriptions to other forms of contraception. If we don’t have the resources to treat you, we’ll help you find a doctor in the Greenville area.

Students may come to the ESHC to get their flu shot or COVID-19 vaccine.  Students can schedule an appointment, or just show up.

Our goal is to provide quick, accurate diagnoses to help you get healthy faster. We can perform a number of laboratory tests on campus to give you a same-day diagnosis and get you started on a treatment plan. If you need a test we don’t offer we’ll save you the drive. We’ll draw a sample in our center and send it to a nearby lab for you. Once we get the results back, our staff will be available to explain them to you and write a prescription if necessary.

Your health information is at your fingertips with MyChart. You can send messages to your doctor, complete questionnaires, make appointments and be more involved in managing your health. Log in to MyChart

Our pharmacy service is just another way we make health care at Furman more convenient for you. We provide a wide-range of over-the-counter medication to our students for a minimal fee. If you need something a little stronger, our physicians can write a prescription or call it into a local pharmacy for you. Can’t get to an off-campus pharmacy right away? We have some medications available to help treat acute symptoms or medical problems. If you are provided a prescription and cannot get to a pharmacy, please tell Student Health Center Staff in order for them to coordinate a way to better serve your medical needs.

Continuation of Prescription
Students often request new prescriptions for medications they were prescribed prior to coming to Furman University. Examples include controlled substances or medication for ADD/ADHD. We require formal documentation of diagnoses, medical assessment, and prescriptions. You may submit this information to the medical records office at Earle Student Health Center via mail or fax at 864.522.2005.

Pharmacy Courier Service
GHS’s Upstate Pharmacy can deliver many medications, excluding controlled substances, to campus within 1 business day. Please work with Student Health Center Staff to coordinate having your prescription delivered to campus.

All routine women’s health care is performed during regular office hours and include annual physicals, Pap smears and birth control management (Pills, shots, Nexplanons and IUD’s).

STI testing and treatment for men and women is also available.

Free condoms are available in the ESHC lobby – no questions asked.

When you’re sick, you’re not in the mood for much of anything, especially a visit to the doctor’s office. Log into SmartExam to get health care for minor illnesses without even leaving your room. The fee is $20 and you can submit for reimbursement via www.eiiastudent.org/furman. Visit SmartExam to learn more and create an account.

Students requesting documentation from the Earle Student Health Center in support of an accommodation(s) request through the Student Office for Accessibility Resources (SOAR) must have an established relationship with our treating professionals in the ESHC.

The Furman Sportsmedicine Center provides comprehensive rehabilitation and injury care to the university and Greenville community.

Students may be referred for consultation evaluations and therapy treatment. The center staff specializes in orthopedic injury/surgery rehab; sports rehabilitation; back and neck care; and aquatic exercise therapy.

All patients must be referred and are seen by appointment only. Students are required to provide their insurance information prior to treatment. For appointments or more information, contact our office at 864.241.5190. Visit the Sportsmedicine Center.

Study abroad exams are offered at a cost of $50.00.  This fee will be billed through the Enrollment Services Center as a student life fee on your account.  Any required immunizations will be administered at time of the exam (if available) and will be billed to your health insurance.
