Furman University’s International Internship Program in East and Southeast Asia

As part of The Furman Advantage, the Freeman Fellowship supports students who independently seek and obtain a full-time international summer internship (i.e., 8 weeks, 35-40 hours/week) in one of the following locations: Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, Cambodia, Myanmar/Burma, Mongolia, Thailand, Vietnam, Bhutan, Nepal, or Laos.

Furman University is the fortunate recipient of a grant (subject to renewal each year) from the Freeman Foundation which provides individual students with funding up to $8,000 to participate in these engaged learning experiences. The application process is competitive and only a small cohort of 16 students are awarded these fellowships each year. Graduating seniors are eligible to apply provided they intern the summer immediately following their graduation from Furman. International students are also eligible provided they intern in countries outside their country of origin.
