Studying philosophy at Furman will take you out of the classroom and around the world. You might travel with your medical ethics professor to a nearby hospital to shadow a doctor on rounds, compare thoughts on Confucianism with Chinese students on a study away trip, work on environmental projects with the Shi Center for Sustainability, or volunteer in underprivileged communities.
You’ll also have a chance to study the philosophies of other cultures both on campus and during study away trips. In fact, we offer the highest number of culturally-diverse philosophy courses of any university in the country.
