Studying philosophy at Furman will take you out of the classroom and around the world. You might travel with your medical ethics professor to a nearby hospital to shadow a doctor on rounds, compare thoughts on Confucianism with Chinese students on a study away trip, work on environmental projects with the Shi Center for Sustainability, or volunteer in underprivileged communities.

You’ll also have a chance to study the philosophies of other cultures both on campus and during study away trips. In fact, we offer the highest number of culturally diverse philosophy courses of any university in the country.
