How will you learn?

All majors in communication studies learn about the deep history of communication in society, the practices of communication through spoken and written word, and the latest advancements in digital communication tools. Communication and media studies majors focus their studies on media history, policy, and criticism or production and storytelling (or both). Our majors take classes with dedicated professors who study complex media ecosystems and develop mentoring opportunities with area professionals in media management and production. Depending on their personal goals, our majors complete a capstone experience by conducting independent archival research alongside a faculty mentor, investing in civic or community media intersections, or building a documentary, film or on-air reel to showcase their production skills.
