The Health Sciences Department’s vision is to develop students holistically to lead lives of meaning and purpose, and to cultivate comprehensive inquiry for improving and promoting all dimensions of wellness, health, and lifelong physical activity.

Furman’s Health Sciences program prepares students for a variety of health-related careers and gives them the foundation required to be accepted at graduate schools and professional schools. Many graduates from the Department of Health Sciences pursue careers in medicine, physical or occupational therapy, dentistry, nursing, public health, physician assistant/associate, and sports science.  Small classes, enthusiastic professors, well-equipped research facilities and Furman’s commitment to a liberal-arts approach to learning are the linchpins for the program. Students work with faculty in excellent human performance laboratories, secure internships with local health care providers, and promote wellness and healthy lifestyles for the campus and the wider Greenville community.
