Overview: Princeton in Asia (PIA) was founded in 1898 with the mission of building bridges of understanding between the U.S. and Asian communities.  PiA sponsors service-oriented fellowships and internships in 21 countries.  PiA partners with Asian host organizations that address critical global issues at the local level, including work in the areas of social justice, education, economic development, public health, and environmental sustainability.  Fellowships are designed to meet the particular needs of local communities while fostering person-to-person diplomacy and providing transformative experiences for both fellows and host communities.
