Women and Politics Series: Transforming Public Leadership

The second national conference, “Women and Politics: Transforming Public Leadership,” designed to assess changes in the trajectory and scope of women’s political involvement in South Carolina and the United States over the past three decades, took place in downtown Greenville as well as on Furman’s campus.  For the program schedule and participants’ biographies, click here.

The conference opened with “A Conversation: Hillary Rodham Clinton, United States Senator from New York at The Peace Center for the Performing Arts with Deedee Corradini, Former Mayor, Salt Lake City, and Former President, U.S. Conference of Mayors, and with Introductions by Susan Thomson Shi, Furman University First Lady.

Marian Wright Edelman, founder of the Children’s Defense Fund, and others participated in the conference that was attended by more than 5,000 people from across the United States.
