Project Name: Community Toolshed

Project Concept: Tool Library in partnership with Gardening for Good

Problem: Need for gardening tools for volunteer days and for community members wanting to start and maintain community gardens. There are about 80 known community gardens in Greenville County.

Solution: A tool library located in Greenville County that would house tools that can be checked out and borrowed.

Gardening for Good has already implemented an online system to be used for checking out the tools and has the staff to manage a tool “rental” system.

The physical location of the toolshed would be 205 Cedar Lane Road, Greenville 29611 (Swamp Rabbit Café and Grocery). This property is located outside city limits; however, this project would benefit residents of both the City and County of Greenville.

Scope of the project: Assist Gardening for Good in their efforts to procure the necessary tools (listed on the Tool List spreadsheet) and an 8’x15’ wooden shed by raising funds and soliciting in-kind donations from the community.

About Gardening for Good:  “Gardening for Good is a network of local community gardens that utilizes the energy of the community garden movement to coordinate neighborhood redevelopment efforts, improve the health of residents and neighborhoods, and transform Greenville through gardening.”

Gardening for Good is a program of Greenville Forward, a local 501c3 non-profit organization.
