The First Day Kit is a workforce development initiative designed to help new employees and employers overcome common challenges associated with starting a new job. The project provides practical support such as financial assistance for essential work-related items, mentorship programs, and guidance on onboarding versus training. The initiative aims to enhance employee preparedness, confidence, and long-term retention by offering structured support before and during the first month of employment. Key components include delivering customized kits with necessary resources, facilitating mentorship interactions, and evaluating the effectiveness of onboarding processes through feedback and continuous improvement. Ultimately, the program fosters a sense of belonging, reduces first-day stress, and aligns with broader workforce development goals.
