With the primary objective of building a greater sense of community and promoting diversity awareness among our leaders of tomorrow, Synergy will bring together a diverse group of student leaders around the Midlands to address a prevalent social issue—Texting While Driving. Particularly, during the Fall of the 2010-11 academic year, Synergy will bring together 28 students from public and private schools (Hammond, Heathwood, and Richland One), who will be divided into groups and given the opportunity to examine the proposed state legislation prohibiting texting while driving and work together to propose penalties for the offense. At the conclusion of the day, each group will present their proposals to a panel of judges who will select the best presentation.
