A S.E.A.T. at the Table
Greenville’s downtown is flourishing through its beautiful scenery, waterfalls, award-winning restaurants, art galleries, local shopping, farmer’s market, entertainment, sports, and warm-hearted neighbors. This DLI team was inspired to enhance our loving community adding a combination of the infectious and positive aspects of pay-it-forward with the spirit of unity. We have created A S.E.A.T. at the Table – Sit Eat and Talk at our welcoming pop-up, pay-it-forward restaurant to nourish, educate, and unite the diverse Greenville community, regardless of background or means. We benchmarked two pay-it-forward, pay-what you can restaurants from other states –the JBJ Soul Kitchen and A Place at the Table. The latter location provided guidance as it began as a pop-up restaurant and has recently grown to open its own location. Carl Sobocinski , founder and president of Table 301 Restaurant Group, is graciously partnering with A S.E.A.T. at the Table for the inaugural pop-up restaurant at Soby’s in downtown Greenville on August 19. Its passion for our community and proud support for local non-profits makes Table 301 an ideal partner for this event.
Our August 19 A S.E.A.T. at the Table event will welcome up to 400 patrons to exchange introductions and build relationships with others while enjoying a special Saturday brunch at Soby’s with the goal of meeting others in unity. Patrons will have the option of paying a minimum donation for their meal, paying-it-forward by anonymously sponsoring future patrons, or paying what they can (being a recipient of another’s generosity). We hope our community will leave this event inspired to continue the pay-it-forward spirit.
Proceeds from the event will be used for considering future A S.E.A.T. at the Table events and a portion will be donated to one of Feeding America’s and Harvest Hope Food Bank’s major initiatives, The BackPack Program. The BackPack Program helps ensure that during the school year, children at risk of weekend hunger can discreetly receive a bag of food that is child-friendly, nutritious, nonperishable, and easy to prepare/eat.
