The Road Runners’ project was to create a resource guide for newly-arrived immigrants that explains and presents the key customs, services and expectations of the Upstate community that would help ease the integration process. The Road Runners recognized that there were both explicit and implicit challenges integrated into the Upstate culture making it difficult for immigrants to integrate. Also, it was important to the Road Runners that a guide be created that would encourage the Latino/Hispanic immigrants to integrate into the Upstate society while maintaining appreciation for their own cultural heritage. Specific areas of concern to the Road Runners were learning English, transportation, education, healthcare, employment, housing and financial concerns. The guide ultimately included a list of organizations that serve immigrants in those areas.
