Flashes of Hope is a volunteer-driven organization focused on children’s cancer, and children with life-threatening illnesses. Through partnerships with hospitals and camps serving children with life-threatening illnesses, Flashes of Hope brings in professional photographers to take photographic portraits of children and their families.  The photo sessions, with professional photographers and make-up artists, provide a temporary reprieve from the stress associated with treatment. The portraits preserve a moment in time, and capture the bravery, grace and dignity of each child. The portraits are given to the families at no cost. Currently, there are 55 Flashes of Hope chapters across the nation, but none in South Carolina. This project creates a Flashes of Hope chapter in the Upstate, partnering with the Greenville Health System and Bon Secours St. Francis Health System.
