Lunch with Deputies members developed a model for a youth mentoring program to be implemented by the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office in collaboration with the Town of Hollywood and local schools within the Charleston County School District. The program, aptly named Lunch with Deputies, will foster positive relationships between rural youth and law enforcement. The program consists of school-based lunchtime interactions, summer field trips, and a year-long mentoring component to help 6th grade students develop important life skills such as decision making and problem solving. Implementation of Lunch with Deputies is set to begin in February/March 2016.
