The team objective was to bring together and, in turn, build bridges between groups of students from two different worlds. With this passion and vision in hand, the Building Bridges team, which included Carolina High School’s principal Mr. Michael Delaney and St. Joseph Catholic School’s headmaster Mr. Keith Kiser, developed and launched this new cultural bridge program. The team brought together groups of students from each of the two schools, exposed students to a new school and daily experiences at that school, and encouraged students to begin working together to develop an impact project that would positively influence our community. This shows what can happen when diverse ideas join to fuel a common cause. By exposing these future leaders to different cultures, the project team afforded them an opportunity to develop relationships and create a unified goal. They are able to understand and embrace their own diversity, while coming together and having impact on our community.
