New website design process and timeline

Hello valued campus partners and site editors,

We’re pleased to announce the launch of a new website design for Furman this summer. This update will not only modernize the aesthetics of our site, but also allow for a more streamlined navigation, improved ADA compliance, and provide for a better user experience. This work aligns with our commitment to the university’s Strategic Diversity Plan, and we have worked with an excellent set of vendors to ensure the best end-product for this project. We can’t wait to share the design with you.

You may be wondering how the new design will impact your current site’s content. The new design will be automatically applied to your existing site content, and no action will be required on your part to update to the new design. The launch will not compromise any of your existing content or page structure and is simply a redesign of the existing modules.

As with our last website upgrade, we will need to remove editing access from the site at the end of May until the site launches in August. This is necessary for migrating all data accurately and smoothly. We strongly encourage you to make as many updates as possible prior to the removal of editing access at the end of May. Our office will be available to make urgent updates if necessary.

Tentative project milestones:
Finalize web design early March
Site content lock late May through early August
Backend development of site March through July
Site launch early August
