Information Technology Services supports the multimedia equipment for almost all of Furman University.

Multimedia equipment and services are available to Furman faculty and staff on a prearranged basis. Organized student groups may also use this equipment with their faculty adviser making the equipment request and accepting responsibility for the equipment.

Classroom Equipment

​Most classrooms have multimedia equipment that will accommodate most needs including: TV service, DVD player, microphones and document cameras. These “teaching stations” are capable of displaying your presentation, projecting your laptop image or presenting from the Internet.

Campus Television Service

Furman provides TV service to almost all buildings on campus including classrooms, residence halls, the library, and other locations. Furman’s TV channel lineup includes programming from DirectTV, local broadcasts, and licensed educational sources.

Digital Signs

Digital signs through-out campus provide information and wayfinding. Messages on these signs are maintained by the sponsoring department, and by Marketing and Public Relations. If you’d like your message to appear on campus digital signs, please contact University Communications If your department would like a digital sign, please contact the IT Service Center​.

Portable Equipment

Faculty, staff, and students can request multimedia equipment by contacting the IT Service Center at least 24 hours in advance. Requests for services on a Monday need to be made no later than the Friday before. Equipm​ent loans are limited to a maximum of one week​. First priority is also given for research and instructional needs.

Portable equipment available for check-out includes:

  • LCD projectors,
  • Boomboxes,
  • microphones,
  • speakers,
  • microphone stands,
  • camcorders,
  • DVD players and
  • screens (for use with projectors).

If any borrowed equipment is lost, stolen or damaged – you will be held financially responsible. Do not leave equipment unattended.

We d​o not accept any equipment requests from off-campus individuals or groups. If you are visiting the campus and need to use Furman multimedia equipment, the request must come to us from a Furman faculty or staff member. If you are having an event at Hartness Pavilion in the Dining Hall Dining Services​ will make the request on your behalf.​

Multimedia Equipment Training

Faculty and staff are encouraged to request training on multimedia equipment that they will be using, and with which they are not familiar. Please send multimedia training requests to the IT Service Center. Please try to request multimedia training at least 24 hours in advance.​​​​​
