Vinson says voter turnout in local elections is ‘the name of the game’

In local elections, the number of voters who come out to polling places is generally low. Some sources say 15% turnout is considered good in a contested municipal race. Spencer Donovan of The Post and Courier Greenville spoke to Furman University’s Danielle Vinson about the upcoming City of Greenville mayoral election. Vinson, a politics and international affairs professor, said voter turnout is everything, noting that even a few hundred or 1,000 votes could swing the election one way or the other.
