Furman University’s Emily Schuck is quoted in an article appearing in The Washington Post about the ongoing delays due to the U.S. Department of Education’s FAFSA overhaul. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is the mechanism that collects financial information about students and families to determine how much aid they are eligible for. In response to Federal Student Aid’s latest round of delays now extending to mid-March, Schuck, vice president of enrollment management, explained the burden it places on students and families. She said nearly 60 percent of admitted students depend on need-based aid and a transparent view of their total costs. Schuck also mentioned the university will work with students if they need additional decision-making time beyond the May 1 deposit deadline.
