Local TV stations cover move-in day for first-year students
Local news outlets were on hand as a crop of 630 new students arrived on the campus of Furman University for move-in day. In its 4 p.m. broadcast, WYFF News4 spoke to Ron Tompson, director of Housing and Residence Life, about the excitement surrounding the big day and Furman’s growing reputation as a national liberal arts institution.
Move-in was covered in WYFF’s 5:30 broadcast as well as at noon when the station mentioned the new class as being the most racially diverse class yet and the most academically selective since 2005. FOX Carolina also covered the on-campus buzz.
