Elizabeth Davis, Furman University president, makes a point of including education sessions for the Furman Board of Trustees during regular meetings. Her practices caught the attention of Laura Krantz, editor of “Leading,” a newsletter of The Chronicle of Higher Education. She spoke to Davis about a recent session she conducted on Gen Z and explained that the more the board understands the current needs of incoming students, the better equipped they are to make decisions. “It’s not enough to say that students are different [than previous generations], but to be able to show the characteristics, the expectations of students,” Davis said.
