Cassidy, Slining quoted in LearningWell about the Okanagan Charter
Furman University’s Jason Cassidy and Meghan Slining are quoted in a LearningWell magazine article about the Okanagan Charter, which calls on higher education institutions to embed health into all aspects of campus culture. Cassidy, associate vice president of student life and dean of students, said the charter gives universities the framework for the wellbeing-first approach, one that 39 U.S. campuses have made an institutional priority. “They give us a unified skeleton, and then it’s up to us to put the meat on the bones that makes the most sense for our campus community, he said. “I think that’s the only way you could get something like this accomplished.”
Slining, associate professor of health sciences, said, “This is not business as usual where the only people who care about health and wellbeing are from the health sciences. Centers and groups all over campus are writing the language into their mission statements and figuring out how to incorporate it into their work. They’re fired up.” Learn more about the Okanagan Charter in this Furman News story.
