FMU ready to host 2022 Pee Dee Fiction and Poetry Festival

Furman University’s Laura Leigh Morris will join three other luminaries in the fiction and poetry world when she serves as a featured guest at the 2022 Pee Dee Fiction and Poetry Festival at Francis Marion University Nov. 3-4. In addition to Morris, the slate includes poet laureate of the United States Ada Limón, New York Times best-selling author Aimee Nezhukumatathil and Marvel Comics’ Benjamin Percy, as reported by the Pee Dee News Network.

Morris, associate professor of English, is the author of “Jaws of Life,” a collection of stories released by West Virginia University Press in 2018. She’s previously published short fiction in Appalachian Heritage, The Louisville Review, Bayou Magazine and other literary journals.

Joining the faculty in 2015, Morris is also co-director of the Furman Prison Education Partnership. She holds a bachelor’s and advanced degrees in creative writing and English from Carnegie Mellon University, West Virginia University and Texas A&M University.
