The Montessori model and creativity
Can school environment impact creativity among schoolchildren? Furman University’s Brooke Culclasure of the Riley Institute, David Fleming, Riley Institute researcher and professor in the Department of Politics and International Affairs, and Furman alumnus Daniel Zhang ’17 studied a total of nearly 150 children at a Montessori public school and children at a demographically similar traditional public school. Their findings were published in the Journal of Montessori Research.
Zhang, a Furman political science graduate, is a master’s candidate in the Security Studies Program at Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.
