High hopes for the Paladins

The Furman men’s basketball team, off to the best start in school history at 7-0, has benefited from senior forward Matt Rafferty’s play on the court and his leadership throughout the program. Through seven games, Rafferty is averaging 18.4 points while leading the team in rebounds (8.7 per game) and assists (4.7). His 11 steals also lead the Paladins, and his nine blocked shots are tied for the lead.

The Greenville News wrote about Rafferty and the Paladins early success, which includes victories over two of last year’s Final Four teams—Loyola-Chicago and defending national champion Villanova.
