Why are so many (19 to be exact) candidates vying for Trey Gowdy’s 4th Congressional District seat? Longtime government and accountability reporter Tim “Cowboy” Smith speaks with lawmakers, consultants and political scientists about the glut of candidates. The reasons they give for the crowded field run the gamut from pay to patriotism.
