Furman to open campus at 11 a.m. Thursday; classes to resume at 11:30 a.m.

Furman University will delay opening campus until 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18. Classes will resume at 11:30 a.m.

The Dining Hall will open to students at 9:30 a.m. and then resume normal hours. The Physical Activities Center will open at 10 a.m.

Employees should not report to campus before 11 a.m. unless directed otherwise by supervisors. Faculty, staff and students should use care and allow for more time when driving to campus, as icy conditions may still exist on some roads.

Facilities has worked to clear snow and ice from campus roads and walkways. Pedestrians should continue to use caution while walking between parking areas and buildings.

The university will continue to monitor conditions throughout the night and provide any updates if needed Thursday morning.

Students, faculty and staff will be notified by text and email as schedule changes are needed. Updates will also be provided online at and as well as on Furman’s Twitter and Facebook pages.
